Precision Grinding
Plating and heat treatment add stock or introduce distortion — precision grinding brings a component back to its exact dimension and finish. Powernox provides precision grinding up to approximately 2 m in length and 5–360 mm in diameter.
What It Does
The step that brings a component back to size.
Precision grinding removes material in fine, controlled increments using an abrasive wheel, achieving a tight dimensional tolerance and a refined surface finish. It's often the final step after hard chrome plating, since the plated layer is deposited above the final target dimension and ground back to the exact size and finish the job requires.
Grinding also corrects distortion that can follow heat treatment, and restores worn shafts and cylindrical components to their working dimension. Suitability depends on the component's material, condition, and required tolerance — confirmed per job, not assumed.
Maximum Length
Diameter Range
Larger or smaller components, and tighter tolerance requirements, should be discussed directly — capacity and achievable tolerance are confirmed against the specific job.
Where It Fits
Grinding supports the other two services.
Precision grinding rarely stands entirely alone — it's the capability that makes hard chrome plating and heat treatment deliver a component to its exact, working specification.
After Hard Chrome Plating
Plated shafts, rods, and cylindrical components are ground back to their final dimension and surface finish.
Hard Chrome Plating →After Heat Treatment
Grinding corrects distortion and brings hardened components back to their required dimension.
Heat Treatment →Worn Component Restoration
Worn shafts and cylindrical parts are ground to a clean working dimension before replating.
Hard Chrome Plating →Standalone Finishing
Grinding is also provided as its own finishing service where a component simply needs a precise dimension or finish.
